Mobile apps

Enabling

To be able to use the mobile apps with your FileRun installation you need to enable the API.

An SSL enabled web server is required. Your FileRun URL needs to start with https:// and not http://. The API is served only over HTTPS and there is no option to allow plain HTTP, not even for testing.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Login to the FileRun installation as superuser.
  2. Open the control panel.
  3. Select "API" from the menu.
  4. Select the "Enable API" checkbox.
  5. Click "Save Changes".

Whichever app you use, it signs in with an app password and not with your FileRun password. The Nextcloud apps ask only for the address of your FileRun installation and then let you approve the connection in the browser; FileRun gives them their own credentials at that moment, so there is nothing for you to type. Any other app asks for a username and a password, which you create yourself with the Connect app option of the FileRun interface. See App passwords.

Android App

Recommended WebDAV/Nextcloud compatible apps:

Alternatively:

  1. Open Safari on your IOS device.
  2. Input your address.
  3. Use Add to Home screen.

This will generate an Icon on your desktop, which will open similarly to any other app.

This is a guide on how to sync your notes from your various devices using FileRun as a server.

In Joplin's settings:

  1. Choose WebDAV as synchronization target.
  2. WebDAV URL: https://mydomain.tld/filerun/dav.php/%40Home/Joplin

Edit the WebDAV URL to match your FileRun installation URL. The ending Joplin word is the name of the folder used for storing the notes' data. You will need to create this folder in FileRun, under your FileRun home folder.
